Fabricating Heavy Copper PCBs

For us, every heavy copper PCB is a special PCB. We use specialized conductive materials, substrate materials, and unique production processes that differ from those used for conventional boards. To enhance copper weight in the sidewalls of vias and plated through holes, we utilize thick copper plating. This approach helps reduce the number of layers while allowing for the integration of high-current and control circuits, enabling high-density boards with simplified structures.

In the regular subtractive manufacturing process, etching heavy copper PCBs presents the challenge of undercutting, which results in copper traces having a trapezoidal cross-section rather than a rectangular one. To overcome this issue, Stream PCB employs an additive manufacturing technique, where we build up the heavy copper using a plating process.
